MALAYBALAY CITY – A total of 1, 615 students attended the virtual symposium organized by the National Service Training Program (NSTP) on three areas as part of the core inputs in the program.
The BukSU-NSTP Unit held the virtual symposium on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM), Covid-19 Awareness, Prevention and Control; and Basic Life Support Hands-Only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Procedure (BLS-CPR) via Zoom application on September 29, 2021.
The symposium was also streamed live via Facebook. The Unit invited a resource person from the Malaybalay City LGU – City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Training Officer Raymond John Pulido, who is an alumnus of Bukidnon State University.
The event began with an opening address from NSTP Unit Coordinator Albert A. Celebran. NSTP Faculty Bridgit Ann A. Cuevas introduced Mr. Pulido to the audience.
Mr. Pulido presented three videos to introduce the three topics. After the presentations, NSTP Faculty Floreibel C. Gultiano presented some NSTP updates and announcements.
The symposium was conducted in accordance with the officially mandated curriculum of the NSTP, which was created in pursuant of Republic Act 9163.
According to the law, the program is aimed at enhancing civic consciousness and defense preparedness in the youth by developing the ethics of service and patriotism while undergoing training in any of its three program components – Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), Literacy Training Service (LTS); and Civil Welfare Training Service (CWTS).
NSTP Faculty Dan Derrick R. Señires officially concluded the program with his closing remarks. About 289 of the students who joined the virtual symposium participated via the Zoom application.
