Mitsubishi Donates Mirage car to BukSU for its BS Automotive Technology program

MALAYBALAY CITY (OP-IPS) Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) donated a brand new Mitsubishi Mirage G4 car to Bukidnon State University.

The donation was coursed through the firm’s School Tie-up Program. The vehicle will be in the care of the College of Technologies’ Automotive Technology (AT) department

The turn-over ceremony was held at the MMPC Cagayan de Oro City Branch on March 5, 2021.

Ms. Rhoda P. Tibaya, AVP for Sales & Marketing – Mindanao and Engr. Jessie James Orcajo, Parts & Service Manager led the turn over to BukSU, which was represented by College of Technologies (COT) Dean, Ms. Marilou O. Espina, COT AT department Chairperson, Mr. Jhoncer D. Hapayon, and COT AT department faculty member, Mr. Rene M. Chavez.

The two organizations did a virtual ceremony on December 17, 2020 at the BukSU Mini-Theater attended by University President, Dr. Oscar B. Cabañelez and other key university officials.

Mitsubishi Philippines and Bukidnon State University joint forces in the School Tie-up Program making the donation possible.

MMPC’s Senior Vice President, Yasuki Maruyama also graced the event through live video chat.

The School Tie-up program aims to advance the automotive giant’s corporate social responsibility by providing automotive curriculum support aiming to foster theoretical and practical application of AT students and instructors. 

“Our Automotive Technology graduates are highly competent”, Jhoncer D. Hapayon, COT AT department chairperson replied when asked about how MMPC selected BukSU as one of their partners.

“Mitsubishi observed that our alumni championed an exceptional attitude towards work”, he added. The Automotive Technology department will use the donated car s an instructional vehicle fulfilling its goal to prepare the students to become professionals, and be qualified for positions in the field of automotive technology.(Contributed by Deyrold I.
