Five BukSU-Secondary Laboratory School students were selected from among hundreds of applicants worldwide to participate in the 2026 Eco Ambassadors Solutions Lab (EASL), which makes them the only student representatives from the Philippines.

EASL is an innovative program that equips high school students to become global citizens and leaders in sustainable development. It is organized by SDGs Today, the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), the Centre for Sustainable Development, and Columbia University.

This year’s theme, “Factivism in the Age of AI”, highlights the importance of using technology and evidence-based advocacy. The program runs from June 30 to August 30, 2026, with sessions every Tuesday and Thursday (9:00-10:00 PM Philippine Time).

Through the program, participants develop skills in evaluating information, analyzing data, and creating evidence-based narratives while exploring AI ethics and sustainability challenges. They also develop solutions, promote informed discussions in their communities, and produce an individual output at the end of the program.

“EASL opens doors to our students. They will learn from experts and collaborate with peers from different countries. We hope they will bring these valuable experiences back to their communities.” Ms. Desiree A. Barroso, SLS Department Head, shared.

This international engagement is an opportunity for students not only to learn about the future of technology but also to explore real-world cases and socialize with people from other nationalities. (Jackie Lou C. Corbita/ Faculty, BukSU-SLS)
