Bukidnon State University (BukSU) has once again demonstrated its strong commitment to sustainability, earning 7th place among Philippine universities, 358th in the world, and the coveted 1st place in Mindanao in the 2025 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings.
This consistent performance reinforces BukSU’s standing as the region’s leading sustainability-driven higher education institution. Despite the expanding global competition, BukSU continues to excel, maintaining its presence among the top universities championing green practices and environmental responsibility.
BukSU’s initiatives, ranging from solar panel installations, vertical gardens, and enhanced waste management to rainwater harvesting systems, campus-wide tree-planting, and sustainability-infused research and instruction, continue to propel the university forward in national and international sustainability landscapes.
The 2025 UI GreenMetric marks the 15th edition of the global sustainability ranking system and includes 1,745 universities from 105 countries, making it the world’s most extensive assessment dedicated to environmental performance in higher education.
The ranking evaluates universities across six categories: Setting & Infrastructure, Energy & Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, and Education & Research. Its goal is to highlight current sustainability conditions and policies in universities and encourage stronger action toward climate change mitigation, clean energy adoption, water conservation, recycling, eco-friendly transportation, and sustainability-based education.
UI GreenMetric continues to inspire university leaders around the globe to strengthen their sustainability commitments, recognizing that creating a greener future requires collective action, heightened awareness, and meaningful behavioral change.
As BukSU celebrates its 2025 ranking, the university remains steadfast in expanding its environmental initiatives and contributing to the global sustainability movement.
