The consultation was organized by the university’s Planning and Development Unit (PDU) to review proposals for infrastructure and related initiatives for the upcoming fiscal year.
The meeting served as a venue to examine the initial list of proposed projects and identify concerns related to campus operations, instructional needs, and community-related considerations.
During the discussions, attendees asked for clarifications on proposed facilities, raised questions on development needs, and provided suggestions tied to safety provisions and functional requirements. Stakeholders also shared observations meant to inform revisions to the draft proposals.
According to PDU, gathering comments from various sectors is part of its established process in preparing development proposals before these undergo internal review. Officials indicated that the activity helped collect sector inputs intended for refining project considerations without altering the scope of what has been proposed.
The consultation involved validating needs identified in earlier planning sessions and reviewing whether the listed projects addressed academic programs and operational functions. Stakeholders discussed how certain items aligned with existing conditions on campus and provided statements to record their views. Their position was that the meeting offered an opportunity to express development concerns and ensure these were included in the planning notes.
Following the consultation, PDU will consolidate all comments and prepare updated recommendations for submission to the university administration. These will proceed through BukSU’s regular evaluation procedures before being submitted to higher governing bodies for further action. (Phillip Loyd M.
