Siegfred Anferny T. Melendez, from the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education program, delivered a response on behalf of his fellow honorees, emphasizing his journey, sacrifices, and future aspirations with high-achieving students.

“Becoming a university scholar is more than just achieving high grades. It is a journey paved by discipline, resilience, and countless sacrifices. It meant studying when we were tired, choosing responsibilities over comforts, and believing in ourselves even when it was difficult – of late nights, of small victories, and sometimes of silent tears.”

Looking beyond academic titles, Melendez urged his fellow scholars to embrace a greater purpose.

“Today, we wear the title of ‘scholar,’ but let us remember that beyond academic success, our greatest goal is to become people of purpose. Our grades may open doors, but it is our character that will determine the paths we walk,” he shared.

BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol expressed her congratulations to the scholars and challenged them to continue to be excellent in their academic performance.

At BukSU, university scholars must have a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 1.25 to 1.00; no grade lower than 2.2.5 in all major, cognate, and elective subjects; not less 18 units of academic credit; have completed the non-academic requirement for the semester; have no failing grade in any academic or non-academic subjects; and a stipend of Php 500.00.
