BukSU Libraries Launch RFID Book Return System

Bukidnon State University (BukSU) has modernized its library services by providing a simple, efficient, and convenient library returning process with the launch of the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Book Return System at the BukSU Main Library 1st Floor held on November 28, 2024, attended by key university officials and library personnel.

RFID is a technology that uses radio waves to identify objects. It involves a tiny microchip embedded in a tag, which can be attached to an object like a book. This tag contains a unique identifier that can be read by an RFID reader.

How does an RFID Book Return System work?

Each book in the library is affixed with an RFID tag. When a book is checked out, the RFID tag is scanned, and the system records the borrower’s information. When the book is returned, the user places it on the RFID reader. The reader scans the RFID tag, identifies the book, and updates the library’s database to reflect the return.

With this system, returning books will be faster and more efficient, allowing our staff to focus on what truly matters – serving you better,” Ms. Chandrani Yves E. Estrada, Supervisor of Libraries, shared.

The event was supported by SMART BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol, Vice President for Administration and Finance Mr. Dante S. Victoria, Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Hazel Jean M. Abejuela, and Supervising Administrative Officer Dr. Rea Rita R. Muege.
