Out of 364 educational institutions in the Philippines, Bukidnon State University has risen to the 84th spot in the latest Webometrics Ranking, released in July 2024. This marks a significant improvement of 40 places from last year’s 124th spot.
The Webometrics Ranking measures a university’s academic web presence based on its web content impact (Visibility, 50%), top-cited researchers from Google Scholar profiles (Openness/Transparency, 10%), and top-cited papers from 2019 to 2023 (Excellence/Scholar, 40%).
The ranking aims to evaluate the quality and impact of a university’s online content rather than its website’s design, usability, or popularity. Its primary objective is to promote Open Access to the knowledge generated by universities.
The “Webometrics Ranking of World Universities” is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain. (BukSU-Information Unit)
