
The local government unit of Malaybalay and Bukidnon State University implemented its Phase 2 of the Basic Research Training Series on June 28 to 30, 2024 at Chali Beach Resort, Cagayan de Oro City.
Participants from various offices within the LGU Malaybalay attended the training: the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO), City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), City Urban Development Housing Division under the Office of the City Mayor, City Agriculture Office, and City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
Engineer Sony Dabe Belderol, Research and Planning Division Head expressed gratitude to Bukidnon State University, and acknowledged the efforts to attend the training, noting specific sacrifices made by participants to be present.
Dr. Derren N. Gaylo, Director for the Center for Educational Analytics, provided a recap of Phase 1 of the training series, outlining the rationale of the event. He revisited the topics discussed in the previous session and invited each group to suggest any necessary revisions. The recap aimed to finalize the research problems and questions for each group’s research topic. He emphasized the importance of maintaining detailed minutes to guide the research process and to determine whether their approach would be qualitative or quantitative.
Dr. Zeny L. Maureal, Center for Mathematical Innovations Director, presented the basics of statistical data analysis, data interpretation, and both descriptive and inferential analysis. She highlighted the importance of quantitative analysis and introduced online tools, including Excel, to assist in data analysis.
