MALAYBALAY CITY – Bukidnon State University’s Human Resource and Management Unit (HRMU) committed to Data Privacy and Protection Awareness. The HRMU personnel have created their data privacy notice and signed a non-disclosure agreement at the end the seminar-workshop held at the unit’s shared room on March 24, 2023.
Atty. Ophelia Pilar E. Rubio-Zamora, University Data Protection Officer, was the resource speaker of the said seminar-workshop. She discussed on four topics: the data privacy principles, lawful processing of personal data, rules on accountabilities, and penalties.
Dr. Joy M. Mirasol, University President, Dr. Rea Rita R. Muegue, HRMU Head, and Ms Rosanna S. Generato, Chief Administrative Officer, and the HRMU staff were the attendees of the seminar-workshop.
During the discussion, some personnel shared the personal data processing of their assigned workload. An open forum then followed where each of the personnel’s concerns regarding data privacy were addressed. The discussion included the causes of data breach, the actions that should be done, and as to how the issues should be addressed.
The BukSU-HRMU is one of the administrative sectors that primarily handles all confidential information from the non-teaching staff, faculty members, and the applicants. All personnel from the said unit are encouraged to learn the value of personal data sensitivity and why it needs to be talked through. (Maria Theresa Polinar/CAO Intern)
