MALAYBALAY CITY (OP-IPS) Korea-based peace organization Heavenly Culture, World Peace and Restoration of Light (HWPL) and Bukidnon State University (BukSU) signed a memorandum of understanding for the integration of peace education on August 19, 2021.

BukSU President Dr. Oscar B. Cabañelez and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Hazel Jean M. Abejuela joined HWPL Chair, Man Hee Lee based in Seoul, South Korea and Executive Director in the Philippines Oh Taek Soo in the virtual signing ceremony with the theme “Becoming One for Peace”.
The MOU was geared to establish a framework of cooperation and understanding between the two organizations in achieving a culture of peace through activities that raise awareness on peace, as stated in Article 10 of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War drafted by HWPL.
Both parties pledged to provide professional expertise and share experiences required to achieve common objectives.
The signing came as an offshoot of the three-day virtual training on July 28-30, 2021 with the HWPL. The MOU was geared to establish a framework of cooperation and understanding between the two organizations in achieving cessation of war and spreading a culture of peace through activities that raise awareness on peace, as stated in Article 10 of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War drafted by HWPL.
As a premiere institution for higher learning, BukSU endeavors to continue providing quality tertiary education and advance the ideals of peace studies integration. The partnership with HWPL for the initiation of a peaceful community is along with the initiatives in consonance to the CHED Peace Studies.
Both parties pledged to provide professional expertise and share experiences required to achieve common objectives. The deed formally recognized the collaboration, in coordination with the Commission on Higher Education-10.
During the virtual signing rites, an opening billboard was streamed featuring the initiatives of HWPL in its multifarious actions and endeavors. Philippines National Coordinator for HWPL Peace Education Ms. Alecka Fajardo introduced HWPL with its role and function.
Ms. Claire Jeon, International Coordinator for Peace Education South Seoul Branch, delivered a speech on behalf of the HWPL South Seoul Branch Director. Dr. Cabañelez, BukSU President, responded with an acceptance speech. The ceremonial and commemorative signing of the MOU was then done.
