MALAYBALAY CITY (OP-IPS) The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) has recently issued the registration certificate for BukSU’s first utility model, courtesy of the Automotive Department.
After a year and a half of waiting, the IPOPHL released the certificate for the Instructional Automotive Charging System with Automotive and Integrated Circuit innovated by Mr. Rene M. Chavez and Mr. Jhoncher D. Hapayon.
The team with their new member, Mr. Rodulfo S. Oco, joined the Regional Invention Contest and Exhibit at Robinsons Place Valencia City on November 11 to 13, 2019.
The group won 3rd place in the 15-entry regional competition’s creative research category.
The Department of Science and Technology – Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) granted the group free utility model registration.
The team presented the registration certificate to the University President, Dr. Oscar B. Cabañelez on July 8, 2021.
Similar to patents, utility models protect new technical inventions through granting a limited exclusive right to prevent others from commercially exploiting the protected inventions without consents of the right holders, according to the World Intellectual Property Office.
