MALAYBALAY CITY (March 31, 2021) The Board of Regents (BOR) of Bukidnon State University reappointed its two public sector representatives, businessman Ray Anthony M. Ramos and dentist Jocelyn K. Tamin. The two board members now serve their second two-year terms. Ramos’ and Tamin’s first term as members of the BOR was from December 28, 2018 to December 28, 2020. The BOR approved their re-appointment on March 10, 2021 and will end in March 2023. Mr. Ramos, 51, worked as a nurse at the Bukidnon Provincial Hospital from 1990 to 1995. Both his parents were businesspersons. He then pursued business as an active member of the Flat Glass Alliance of the Philippines and Petron Dealers Association. He finished his elementary in Bukidnon State College, his high school in Xavier University, and his bachelor’s degree in Nursing at the Liceo De Cagayan. Mr. Ramos lives with his family in Malaybalay City. Dr. Tamin, a professional dentist, was previously hailed as Most Outstanding Dental Provider of the Bukidnon Health Insurance Project in 1998. She revitalized the local chapter of the Philippine Dental Association. Dr. Tamin is an active member of the Philippine Dental Association, Bukidnon Dental Society Inc, Bukidnon Stomodeum, Ang Buhing Pulong Community, The Sword of the Spirit, and Christ the King Association. She is also a women’s welfare advocate with her participation in the activities of the Asia Region Women’s Council, International Women’s Conference, and Asia Pacific Dental Convention. She completed her dentistry at Centro Escolar University. She went to San Isidro College for her high school and Bukidnon Normal Laboratory School (now BukSU) for her elementary. Her family lives in Malaybalay City. Based on Republic Act No. 9456, the law which converted Bukidnon State College into a university, two prominent citizens from the private sector who have distinguished themselves in their profession or fields of specialization shall be appointed as members of the BOR, the governing board of the University. The appointment shall be from among a list of at least five persons qualified in the Province of Bukidnon, as recommended by the search committee, based on the normal standards and qualifications for the position set by the Board. The two representatives shall serve for a term of two years from the date of appointment. Prior to reappointment, the Evaluation Committee assessed the accomplishments vis-a- vis their performance. The committee is composed of the VP for Academic Affairs (VPAA), Alumni Relations Coordinator, Faculty and Non-Teaching Representatives, University Registrar, and the Office of the Board Secretary, as the secretariat. In their evaluation, the evaluation committee noted the active support of the two private sector representatives to the university’s implementation of flexible learning modes, the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning, and the academic continuity plan relative to the new normal in higher education. Both board members were actively involved in monitoring the implementation status of the university’s infrastructure projects and facilities. According to the committee’s evaluation report, Mr. Ramos and Dr. Tamin showed passion and commitment without any hesitation in serving as members of the board with their presence in majority of the BOR meetings.
