Bukidnon State University (BukSU) assures the public that it is committed to help keep the countryside peaceful and progressive through quality higher education.
This is to shed light on BukSU’s inclusion in a list of 38 universities targeted for radicalization and recruitment by the Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army (CPP-NPA), as posted in the social media account of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).
As a state university, BukSU promotes academic freedom and the core values of excellence, professionalism, integrity, commitment and culture sensitivity among its students so they become peace-loving, innovative, and ethical leaders.
The university does not support any illegal activities and has not permitted any of its offices, faculty and staff to engage in any activity that serves the interest of any party or group such as the CPP-NPA.
The university has been and will continue to be a safe place for learning. The administration has put in place policies and mechanisms to ensure that the students are allowed only to engage in activities in line with developing competencies in their chosen field.
BukSU campuses have remained zones of peace developed for the sole purpose of providing quality education for students to become competitive professionals.
In this view, the university has always worked in productive partnership with the government and its various agencies, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), to ensure the students are trained to actively participate in national and local community service. The university also promotes awareness of national security concerns among its students.
Even with the onset of the COVID-19, BukSU has continued this vibrant engagement through signing of memoranda of agreement and understanding (MOA/Us) to help prepare students to join the country’s workforce in the public and private sectors.
As a premiere institution in the heart of Mindanao, BukSU directs its graduates to lead, innovate, and help the country achieve its socio-economic goals. As a major partner and advocate in the promotion of peace and nation-building, we remain.
