MALAYBALAY CITY (April 16) Bukidnon State University has forged international linkages through the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with six international academic institutions in 2017, said Dr. Joy M. Mirasol, BukSU Vice President for Research, Extension and International Affairs.
Dr. Mirasol said on April 10 that the MoUs were signed during the 32nd Annual Convention of the Association of Universities of Asia and Pacific (AUAP) held in the historic city of Xian, China on November 7 to 10, 2017.
BukSU signed MoUs with Naresuan University in Thailand, Zhengzhou University and Sias International University in China, California Baptist University in the United States of America, Daffodil International University in Dhaka, Bangladesh and Daegu Health College in Daegu, South Korea.
BukSU already has an on-going institutional tie-up with the Daegu Health College, where more than a hundred B.S. Hotel and Restaurant Management students are enrolled in an online Korean food course en route to a possible cultural exchange program.
Dr. Mirasol, who represented university president Dr. Oscar B. Cabañelez in the convention, signed the MOUs on behalf of BukSU.
She said the MOUs were facilitated in the run up to the annual convention.
“We selected a number of universities with similar specialization with us from a list provided to us by AUAP. There were initially five universities, which responded,” she added.
She said the sixth university which signed an MoU was identified only in the convention.
She said the partnerships and linkage aim to collaborate in the four-fold functions of the university, namely; instruction, research, extension and production.
The forging of international linkage is part of BukSU’s internationalization process. (Walter I. Balane/BukSU Office of the President – Information and Publication Service)
