MALAYBALAY CITY (IPS) The first survey visit of the Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines (AACCUP) for Level 1 accreditation of eight Bukidnon State University programs is a blessing, university president Dr. Oscar B. Cabaňelez said.
Dr. Cabaňelez compared the visit to the coming of the rainy season reported on national television as a blessing.
“I was excited … I cannot express my thanks (enough) for the dynamic and very supportive accreditors,” he said.
The president has expressed his enthusiasm for the visit during the accreditation visit’s opening program on June 17, 2019. Eight of the 28 university programs are subject of this AACCUP survey visit. The same programs were subject of the Preliminary Survey Visit last year.
Referring to the accreditors, Dr. Cabaňelez cited the full support extended by their respective college or university presidents, many of whom he met on June 14 during the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) National Executive Board meeting in Metro Manila.
The president, addressing both visiting accreditors and local task forces, said the faculty and staff of the university are very open for suggestions - for improvement.
He assured the AACCUP accreditors of his administration’s full support.
“Much of the development in the university is because of your help,” he added.
University of Southern Mindanao’s (USM) Dr. Riceli C. Mendoza heads the 19-member survey team.
Dr. Mendoza, director of USM’s Quality Assurance Unit and a high-ranking official of the AACCUP, introduced the heads and members of the accreditation survey teams from different SUCs in Mindanao.
“We are always ready, all in the name of excellence,” she said, addressing the university community gathered in the BukSU Auditorium Monday morning. The visit will run from June 17 to 21, 2019.
Deans Dr. Hazel Jean M. Abejuela (College of Arts and Sciences), Dr. Mercedita S. Villamayor (College of Education) and Dr. Demetria May T. Saniel (College of Business) from colleges with programs under survey took turns in introducing the accreditors’ local counterpart.
In video presentations, BukSU showcased development in the university then and now including achievements in infrastructure in response to the Build, Build, Build program of the national government.
The thrust is to provide sustainable conducive learning environment for the growing student population and their various needs.
BukSU submitted for AACCUP Level 1 accreditation the following programs: Doctor of Public Administration, Doctor of Philosophy in Science Education Major in Mathematics, Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration, Master of Management Major in Business Management, Bachelor of Arts in Social Science, Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Bachelor of Physical Education Major in School Physical Education and Bachelor of Early Childhood Education.
