Welcome to School Year 2020-2021!
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for trusting Bukidnon State University-College of Nursing to Educate, Innovate, and Lead students towards achieving their nursing dream.
Indeed, this academic year is a symbolic and challenging time for all of us, as this year opens new teaching and learning modalities. Today’s challenge is to reduce as much as possible the negative impact of this pandemic on the learning experience of our nursing students. This year also signifies visual acuity amid the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has definitely changed the Philippine Nursing Education in terms of modes and approaches, BUT the CONTENT and QUALITY should still be the same. CHED Commissioner De Vera reminded us that the path to education should be anchored on the premise that learning must continue, as HEIs are repositories of innovation and vanguards of change. However, to achieve this premise, we need your understanding, cooperation, and active involvement. As Commissioner De Vera emphasized, it is Everybody’s Responsibility!
Please know that the College of Nursing is maximizing all of its resources to create and deliver Innovative, Responsive, and Meaningful curricular activities that will build a strong foundation for learners to adapt to the twists and turns of this Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous (VUCA) world. In addition, our VPAA, Dr. Hazel Abejuela, challenges us to transform this crisis into creative solutions, adapt to changes and challenges, and use them to provide opportunities for students to grow. This statement shows that the University and the College are doing their best to provide quality Nursing Education amid this pandemic.
As we face various challenges this year, I beseech you, our dear students, to be optimistic and agile! Let us all prepare ourselves to navigate the days ahead and make sure that we also look into our emotional/psychological well-being in this extraordinarily demanding and stressful time. It can be overwhelming to tend to others’ needs while managing the almost-daily academic requirements and activities but know that we are together in this quest towards quality nursing education.
Keep safe, and God speed everyone!
