MALAYBALAY CITY (OP-IPS) Bukidnon State University joins the 53rd Founding Anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) with the theme “Cohesive and Responsive ASEAN”.

BukSU through the International Affairs Unit invites the Personnel, Students, and Alumni to join the Essay Writing, Photography, and Digital Art Contests (please see posters for details).

Dr. Elle Christine D. Melendez, head of the IAU encouraged everyone to participate in these events that BukSU has prepared for this celebration.

On August 20, 2020, the Commission on Higher Education held a virtual Kick-Off Ceremony for the 2020 ASEAN Month Celebration. This is an annual event that launched regional activities meant to spread awareness and enjoin stakeholders to celebrate the founding anniversary of ASEAN.

Based on the letter from the International Affairs Staff of CHED, the different government agencies were provided with a notional calendar released by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ASEAN, which features the lineup of Activities to be held by these agencies.

On July 31, 2020, President Rodrigo R. Duterte signed Proclamation No. 282 to “promote and heighten the awareness of the ASEAN” and to emphasize the importance of the role of ASEAN in “achieving and maintaining regional peace and sustainable development.”

Malacañang declared August of every year as a month dedicated to commemorate the ASEAN.

All government agencies, particularly the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and Commission on Higher Education CHED), are mandated to initiate and implement programs that would “generate awareness and public support in promoting the observance of the Asean Month.”
