BukSU holds 3rd Congress for NSTP educators, implementers

MALAYBALAY CITY (IPS) About a hundred participants from 16 satellite campuses of Bukidnon State University and three other higher educational institutions in Bukidnon attended the 3rd National Service Training Program Educators and Implementers Congress.

The BukSU National Service Training Program Unit hosted the congress with speakers from the main campus’ NSTP Faculty. It was held on January 16 to 17, 2020 at the BukSU Auditorium.

In his keynote speech, Mr. Dante S. Victoria, BukSU Vice President for Administration, Planning and Development (VPAPD) stressed the importance of NSTP and its components to nation building and character development of the students.

He said NSTP is as important as other courses so students should not degrade the subject. He also encouraged the NSTP Unit to conduct research on the NSTP implementation of programs and projects.

Mr. Albert A. Celebran, NSTP Implementers Association Region 10 Board Member and Northern Bukidnon Coordinator, discussed the rationale of the event and presented important updates on the ROTC implementation.

Ms. Floreibel C. Gultiano, Literacy Training Service Component Head, articulated RA 9163 or the NSTP Law and discussed the Internal Rules and Regulations and Manual of Operations of the National Service Training Program.

Mr. Dan Derrick R. Senirez, Faculty Associate to the NSTP Unit, shared his knowledge on how to creatively and effectively impart the 25-hour NSTP module as stipulated in the manual of operations (MOO).

Ms. Bridgit Ann A. Cuevas, Civic Welfare Training Service Component head shared some strategies in teaching the Pre-Immersion Lessons highlighting the Community Immersion requisite of the NSTP.

Mr. Niel Ryan Baquiler, Faculty Associate to the Office of the Student Services, facilitated the workshop focusing on: Going through the Immersion Process.

Mr. Andre Lew Franc L. Cabigas, NSTP Instructor, demonstrated the proper documentation of the immersion process, leading to the making of an Accomplishment Report for each immersion projects.

Being one of the leading implementers of the NSTP in the Philippines, BukSU-NSTP Unit headed by Mr. Celebran initiated the said congress to keep the educators on track on the programs, process and updates on how they are implementing their respective NSTP courses.

This year, participants said program was successful and helped educators to better implement the NSTP in their respective campuses.

Aside from NSTP faculty from BukSU satellite campuses, participants from San Isidro College, Mindanao Arts and Technological Institute and Northern Bukidnon Community College attended the congress. (Marven Jan A. Nadela, NSTP Unit./OP-IPS Contributor)
