Why conduct preventive maintenance for computer systems?

MALAYBALAY CITY (IPS) The Information and Communication Technology Services Unit (ICT –SU) has reported 100 percent completion of its preventive maintenance for the university’s computer systems in the Second Quarter of 2019.

The unit conducted computer maintenance for about 700 units from 60 offices and units. Mr. Donald P. Donasco, IT Officer, said Preventive Maintenance to computer system was successfully conducted in May 2019 for the second quarter schedule.

But why is this important?

He said their operations is meant to minimize corrective and breakdown maintenance, maintain satisfactory equipment condition and improve the reliability of the equipment. Preventive Maintenance checklist is being used by the Technical Staff in conducting preventive maintenance to the computer systems.

Donasco said this is to ensure that no transactions will fail and backlogs be avoided in the daily operations of the university. Further, He said preventive maintenance will also help monitor the performance of all computer systems and ensure 100% uptime of the operation.
