MALAYBALAY CITY (IPS) A total of 14 graduating students of the College of Education held their internship in schools in Thailand under an internship abroad program and in the Philippines under the Normalite Program.

The College stands by BukSU’s quality policy “to produce globally competitive and responsible graduates”. Dr. Mercidita S. Villamayor, COE dean, said foremost is their pursuit of stronger and more sustainable linkages.

Nine students went to Thailand schools through the Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP) this year. The pre-service teachers had their internship in the ASEAN neighboring country from January 16, 2019 to March 21, 2019.

Two pre-service teachers were received by the Anubanphanatsuksalai School in Phanatnikom, Chonburi, Thailand; five interns in the Wattananusas School; and two other intens in Watbunyarasri Thumrurat Uphathum School.

The following were the COE pre-service teachers who have successfully completed their internship abroad this year: Deanna Alexa M. Abejuela (BPE-SPE), Stella Venus P. Bahian (BEE), Angel Lovely Q. Balbin (BEE), Leo L. Balucan (BEE), Duzzel Mianie Kia Q. Jimenez (BSE-English), Winnie Lamaclamac (BECE), Ivy Joy I. Lanzaderas (BEE), Lizzanne Kate B. Padilla (BSE-English) and Trixie Mae Remoroza (BEE).

The program started in the academic year 2013-2014, with interns in a school in Indonesia. In 2014-2015 academic year, BukSU sent interns to Indonesia and Thailand. Since 2016 up to present, the university only sent interns to schools in Thailand under SIAP.

Five other BukSU students took part in another internship program, the Normalite Program an Erasmus Mundus patterned student exchange program which is a collaboration among the member schools of the National Network of Normal Schools (3Ns) in the Philippines.

The internship duration covered January 14, 2019 to March 10, 2019. The following students participated in the said internship program: Erin Leizh L. Camarillo (BEE), Joven P. De Asis (MSE-Math), Vincent Jhun O. Dorias (BSE-English), Alan Paul C. Maňacap (BSE-Biological Sciences) and Danielle Blanca G. Oracion (BSE-Biological Sciences). All five of them satisfactorily completed their practice teaching in Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) Laboratory High School, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

Dr. Villamayor said BukSU COE is firm in its commitment to produce world-class teachers who are open to diverse cultural and academic experiences. The same thrust also seeks to produce teachers who constantly welcome a healthy exchange of expertise in teaching practices among equally competitive schools in the country and abroad. (Rowena F.
