MALAYBALAY CITY (IPS) Full support from the administration is considered as one of the reasons behind the progressive increase of number of graduates from the College of Nursing who pass the nursing board examination, according to a report.
Since its inception, the percentage passing rate of CON to the Nurse Licensure Examination Performance has increased from 58.33 percent in December 2013 to 100 percent in December 2017.
In 2014, 50 of the 55 takers passed the licensure examination with a percentage of 90.91 percent. It was the batch with the highest number of passers.
In 2015, the percentage rate went down to 86.84 percent but it bounced back to 89.29 percent in December 2016, straight to 100 percent in November 2017.
Dr. Carina Joane V. Barroso, College Dean, cited that the BukSU administration allocated budget for capability building training, establishment of Commission on Higher Education (CHED)-Compliant Health facilities, the acquisition of Nursing Laboratory equipment and supplies and provided support to affiliation and other activities of the college.
She cited as example of capability building training the Teaching Professional Nursing Course for the New Bachelor of Nursing Outcomes Based Education Curriculum, the Writeshop on Machine Learning and Health Analytics, Nurse at the Forefront: Transforming Healthcare for the Filipinos and the World, Case Teaching Workshop conducted by the research unit and the UNSAID and Writing Outcomes-Based Instructional Materials.
The administration has also allocated for the construction of the four-storey health services building with laboratories and classrooms, as part of the universityʾs Campus Development Plan as of 2015 (see related story: BukSU to complete P206.3-M worth infra projects in 2018) and the newly constructed Nursing Comfort Room and Covered Walk.
The administration also allocated P2.5 million worth of Nursing Laboratory equipment.
As part of the collegeʾs hospital affiliation, the administration also allowed and provided budget for students to expose in facilities like the Southern Philippines Medical Center, a state-of-the-art hospital facility in Davao City. (IPS with a report from the College of Nursing)
