Commissioner Alibin now heads BukSU board

MALAYBALAY CITY (July 20, 2018) Commission on Higher Education (CHED) commissioner Perfecto A. Alibin is now the chairman of the Board of Regents of Bukidnon State University, following the resignation in January 2018 of CHED Chair Patricia Licuanan.

Commissioner Alibin, former USeP president and long-time professor of educational management and public administration, was appointed to the CHED on August 19, 2017.

He began presiding over the BukSU board meeting on March 15, 2018.

According to the CHED website, Dr. Alibin rose from the ranks at USeP, from professor to dean of the College of Education, College of Technician Education and Technology, then as dean of the College of Engineering and Technology, and Director of Mindanao Center for Technical Education and Staff Development. Before he became USeP president, he held the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Dante A Damit, current president of the BukSU- Supreme Student Council also took his oath as new student regent during his first board meeting attendance on May 18, 2018.

Damit is a fourth year Bachelor of Public Administration student of the College of Business.

Sen. Francis G. Escudero, chair of the Senate committee on Education, Culture and Arts, who joined the board on March 17, 2017 is also represented by Bukidnon Gov. Jose Ma. R. Zubiri Jr.

Dr. Oscar. B. Cabañelez, BukSU president, sits as vice chairman of the BukSU board. The other current members of the board are Zamboanga Sibugay Rep.Ann K. Hofer, who chairs the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education; Director Leon M. Dacanay Jr, current National Economic Development Authority (NEDA 10)  regional director; Director Alfonso P. Alamban, Department of Science and Technology (DOST-10) regional director and Dr. Victor M. Barroso, president of the BukSU Alumni Association.

Prof. Zenaida M. Faunillan, president of the BukSU Faculty Association, who joined the Board of Regents on June 2, 2017 is on the second year of her two-year term as faculty regent.

Meanwhile, a search committee headed by Dr. Anthony M. Penaso, president of Caraga State University, has initiated on May 11, 2018, the process to select two private sector representatives to the BukSU Board of Regents.

Mr. Dante S. Victoria Jr, con-current vice president for administration, planning and development (VPAPD) is the university and board secretary.
